Post Malone’s “Psycho” Is About to Match Up to “Rockstar’s” Huge Opening Week

As soon as most of us heard Post Malone‘s “Psycho,” we knew it would be a hit. Actually, as soon as most of us heard the snippet from the studio over a year ago, we knew it would be a hit.

But will “Psycho” live up to the massive commercial success of Post’s last single—and first No. 1 hit—”Rockstar?” We won’t find out for sure until Billboard‘s charts are updated in several more days, but early reports point to yes.

According to HitsDailyDouble, the song is already No. 1 in the US on Spotify (passing Drake’s similarly huge “God’s Plan”) and it’s sitting at No. 2 on the global charts. The song is also doing incredibly well on Apple Music—on track to surpass “Rockstar”s opening week figures. Considering “Rockstar’s” first week broke Apple’s worldwide first-week streaming record, that means it’s racking up unheard-of numbers. HDD also reports that the song is No. 1 on iTunes, was the biggest mover on Shazam, is the number one most added song on Rhythm radio, and sits in the Top 5 on the UK singles chart.

“Rockstar” debuted at No. 2 on Billboard Hot 100 behind Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” so if “Psycho” overtakes “God’s Plan” at the top of the charts this week, it’ll be Post’s first single to debut at No. 1.

Republic Records stirred up some controversy for a looped video on YouTube that some claim to have helped the chart success of “Rockstar,” but the label has uploaded “Psycho” to YouTube in full this time around. You can listen to that below.
