Meet Juice WRLD, A 19-Year-Old Genre Bending Artist From Chicago

For an artist who is from so close to home for me, its a surprise that I haven’t heard of him until earlier this week. Last Friday, I was aimlessly scrolling through Twitter when I saw a retweet from the talented Cole Bennett about a video that was about to drop with someone named “Juice Wrld.” Until that moment I didn’t know anything about Juice Wrld, but I knew that if he was partnering with Cole Bennett, owner of Lyrical Lemonade, it was going to be fire.

I woke up Sunday, opened Twitter, and one of the first things I saw was the “All Girls Are The Same” video by Juice Wrld. My first thoughts after listening to the song for the first time with visuals was that he was something special. Juice Wrld’s sound bends genres of hip-hop, R&B, and even rock to create a beautiful sound. If there were an artist currently dominating the game right now that I could compare him to would be Post Malone. He’s just got that vibe to him.

Its not often that you find yourself watching the same video 50 times in a row. However, Juice and Cole were able to hypnotize me with their nostalgic vibes with this one. The video begins with Juice Wrld laying on an animated building next to a highway and transitions into an animated scene where Juice is driving a bus full of Juice Wrld clones. I thought this was a creative way of starting the video and it really sets the tone for what’s to come in the next few minutes. Juice Wrld’s Post Malone-like flow coupled with the trippy visuals from Cole Bennett makes for a treat. Check out the video to see for yourself.

I’m sure you’ll be hearing a lot more Juice WRLD in the near future! Listen to some more tracks of his below.
