MTV has finally unveiled their anticipated nominations for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, and Kendrick Lamar‘s superstardom is proven through his eight total nominations. According to the list, the To Pimp a Butterfly rapper grabs a slew of nominations in tons of categories including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Direction and more.

While Don Cheadle’s appearance in K. Dot’s “DNA.” visuals didn’t snag any nominations for this year’s award, Kendrick’s “HUMBLE.” video earned him all eight spots in different categories. The Compton MC may have a high chance of taking home all of his awards, but he does have some hefty competition in the Video of the Year category, as he’s up against videos such as Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic,” Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful,” DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller’s “Wild Thoughts,” as well as The Weeknd’s “Reminder.”

It’s also going to be a heavy standoff for the nominees of the Best New Artist category, as well as it features Khalid, Kodak Black, SZA, Noah Cyrus, Young M.A and Julia Michaels.

Kendrick has already had a major year, having become the highest-selling artist for his DAMN. album, which is already two times platinum.
